Halloween Movies

Ok, so we are close to Halloween and those who dont have plans for the weekend.
I have a few movies that you may enjoy for your delightfully spooktacular movie marathon.

This will be a short post but thorough so you can really enjoy it and these are the past movies I have watched on the Month of October.

I usually do some Halloween Post with clothing because I really love this time of year.
Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

So, lets get this list going!
Now, none of these movies are like your gory Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Its like Halloween softcore jajaja.

Some vintage, some new and some just thrillers and drama.

4. Hush

Hush is with Jessica Lange for those who love American Horror Story and Gwyneth Paltrow.

A successful new york couple portrayed by Gwyneth and  Johnathon Schaech,  agree on going to Jackson family ranch in Virginia  and meet his mother.
Now the mom, played by Jessica strikes as a possesive, dominant woman who is very much attached to her son and has no respect for the boundaries of her grown adult son.

Why do I say this?
Because, not only does she expect the couple to sleep in separate rooms but since they are so into each other and they cannot resist themselves, Helen ends up in Jackson room.

Helen completely naked and sleepy wakes up to noises, turns out that it is not her loving boyfriend but his Mother Martha that entered breezy and cool and seeing Helen naked just smiled and jokes with her like nothing.
At one point you think what an awesome mother but the truth is that there are details that start giving away and uncovering that Martha is not such a sweet mommy after all.
Like staring at her son having sex on after a new years party.

At one point she starts telling contradictory things about Helen, like not wanting to meet Jackson's grandmother.
As soon as Helen starts hearing these things she starts getting suspicious.

Getting back to NY, they find out she is pregnant and that is awfully weird because she does have birth control which she left in the room in Kilronan which is the ranch in Virginia. Which suspiciously is the room that Martha came in.

After the discovery o her pregnancy they decide to go back to Kilronan so Helen can be safe  and they can fix the ranch to sell.

Several events start giving away the psycopathology of Martha, which ultimately make her the step mom from hell.

It really is scary because I have seen moms react this way with their sons in real life and by this I mean the attachment not in an insane way.

3. Sweet Sweet Lonely Girl.

Now this movie really bewitched me because the way it is developed and the scenery.
Their is something really eerie and beautiful and it really seems like you are watching something from the 70's.
The story about Adele, a girl who has taken the task of taken care of her Agoraphobic aunt in what appears to be a Victorian House.
Adele looks like a very lonely girl who just lives to attend her aunts needs, an aunt who seems to come out of her room only when Adele is away making groceries to place spooky dolls on her bed.
Adele, decides to go out one night and meets Beth who offers to pay for a sandwich.
Adele had only seen Beth in a supermarket flirting with one of the guys from staff, which makes you think Adele's like the boy but it seem she has other inclinations.

Beth, seems that friend that even though she provides a fun time will only get you in trouble  and   because of her magnetism has a very powerful but bad influence on Adele.  It also even makng her think that she is into Adele and loves her but is also using that to influence her to make poor decisions towards her Aunt.

Such as entering the house and going in the attic to try  on dresses and making her take money from her aunt or making her neglect her.

The  type of gothic thriller takes a little turn towards the paranormal making you notice that Beth really isn't who you think she is and perhaps making Adele really lear a valuable lesson.

2. When A Stranger Calls 1979 version

Oh man, this was my favorite especially the first act where Jill Johnson arrives to the Mandraki's house to babysit.
She is given orders on sight about not to wake the children because a terrible cold and to help herself  to some low fat yogurt.
As soon as she starts studying she starts receiving creepy calls a man asking her if she has checked on the children.

As a babysitter I would be freaked and would have runned upstaris to check on them but my darling Jill decides to stay downstairs thinking it is just some prankster. After calling the police they tell her they cant do much if he hasnt threatened her and they receive  many calls of this sort.

So, after trying to keep the creep on the phone to be able to trace the call, Jill receives a call from the police that the call is coming from inside the house. And so the horror begins because as soon as Jill is going to escape she sees the shadow of the man and screams.

As the police arrive, we see the Mandrakis, their children have been slaughtered by a man who just arrived from England.

And so seven years later after being institutionalized Curt Duncan, the name of the killer escapes the asylum bringing fear to the streets again
Luckily the Mandrakis have not forgotten the crime and hire a private investigator to track him down.

As the movie goes on you can see who the killer is and the personality which involve much scary scenes, as he approaches insistently a woman in a bar and then following her to her house to become her friend.

And so the terror begins again.

1. Haunting of Hill House.

I just have to say one thing, do not hesistate to watch this series on Netflix.
The series is based on the Crain family, which live in house that they are willing to rebuild and sell for future profit, but the part they dont count on is that the house has plans and occupants of its own.

The scenery, the camara, the direction the story telling between future and past may seem so confusing but every single part is explained as each chapter goes by, so almost no cliffhangers are left.

The series portrayed a happy family that moved into a gothic style home, where many of the children and Olivia the wife start seeing ghosts in the house.
The series is based in the future but makes flash back shots explaining event such as the ghosts that appear and dreadful event where the wife suicides herself in the home making the dad Hugh having to leave the house with children.

This single event and all the other events with ghost relate try t make you understand why the family they have in actual moments.
Luke being a junkie, Shirley runs a funeral home, Theo seems to have problems letting people get close, Nell seems that she has always struggled with psychological problems and Steven the older that may have better memory of Hill house becomes a wirter of the paranormal and even writes about his experience in Hill House. which the family is unhappy calling the profit Blood Money.

The series is filled with ghost all around and many places you dont expect them to be plus the unraveling of the house and the story behind what really happpened the night Olivia killed herself.

The Hill House mansion seems to have a life of its own and it seems to be taking a toll on each family member's sanity.

I highly recomend this one, it will keep you hooked and wanting more especially the fun stuff like ghosts in places you didnt see.
And I feel like it has some direction as Stephen King movie.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN GUYS!
